Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a deodorant and an antiperspirant or antisudorific?
Deodorants mask odours with perfumes, and they have antibacterial properties, whereas antiperspirants contain aluminium salts that reduce the generation of sweat through the temporary obstruction of the ducts of sudoriferous glands.

What is hyperhidrosis?
Hyperdrosis comes from the Greek word hidrôs, which means sweat, and it is used to describe the excessive generation of sweat. Hyperhidrosis is a disorder that indicates a state of excessive sweating which is not physiologically necessary. Excessive sweating concerns about 1% of the population. It can affect certain parts of the body or the whole body.

Often, hyperhidrosis affects only some parts of the body, such as the feet, the armpits and the palms of the hands. Such type of hyperhidrosis is known as localised hyperhidrosis and usually starts at the time of puberty.

Hyperhidrosis can make life very trying for those suffering from it.

Is it dangerous to control sweating?
It is not, as the body has many other ways of eliminating sweat, which allows the system to cool down.

What is Dry-Me?
Dry-Me is an antiperspirant gel specially formulated to control excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) and unpleasant body odours. Dry-Me does not contain any alcohol, preservatives or synthetic perfume.

What is the active principle in Dry-Me?
Dry-Me contains 20% aluminium chloride hexahydrate.

How does it work?
The aluminium salts obstruct the ducts that the system uses to eliminate sweat; tiny plugs are formed in those ducts and, after a few days, they are naturally eliminated by the skin.

Why prefer Dry-Me to another antiperspirant?
The chemical formulation of Dry-Me guarantees high effectiveness and its consistency as a gel in a pump bottle allows for an accurate dosage of the product and higher comfort of use. Moreover, Dry-Me does not contain any alcohol, preservatives or synthetic perfumes.

Can Dry-Me be applied on all types of skins?
Yes, Dry-Me is suitable for all skin types.

On which areas can Dry-Me be used?
Dry-Me should only be applied to those areas that are most frequently affected by excessive sweating, such as the armpits, the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet. Dry-Me must not be applied to the eye area or mucous membranes, nor on injured, irritated or infected skin surfaces.

Does the aluminium contained in Dry-Me constitute a health hazard?
No, the aluminium dosage contained in Dry-Me complies with the prescribed legal standards and is not toxic when applied to the skin.

Aluminium and breast cancer: as far as the rumour is concerned, whereby aluminium could increase the risks of breast cancer, no scientific study has shown any link between aluminium and cancer to this day. Such assertions have, for that matter, been denied by the National Cancer Institute and the US Food and Drug Administration.

How should Dry-Me be used?
Dry-Me must be applied only at bedtime. Before each application, the areas to be treated need to be washed and dried carefully. Do not apply Dry-Me on irritated or injured skin surfaces. Do not shave nor otherwise remove hair from the areas to be treated just before or after the gel is applied. People with particularly sensitive skin should avoid taking a shower less than one hour before the gel is applied.

To avoid all contact with the eyes, both hands should be washed after Dry-Me is applied.

Why should Dry-Me be applied in the evening at bedtime?
At night, the amount of sweating goes down, and this allows Dry-Me to be as effective as possible.

How long does it take to reduce sweating?
An improvement can usually be noticed after the first application of the gel. In severe cases, it may be necessary to apply Dry-Me every night for periods of up to one month to obtain satisfactory results.

How often should Dry-Me be applied?
Dry-Me can be applied every night until sweating has been brought under control. Applications can then be reduced to 2-3 times a week or less, as needed.

Can Dry-Me be used also for problems linked to body odours?
Yes, unpleasant odours come from bacteria that live on the skin surface. Those bacteria feed on the organic wastes and toxins that are present in sweat, and it is their degradation that generates sweat odours.

Can Dry-Me be used by those who do not suffer from hyperhidrosis?
Yes, for elementary comfort, Dry-Me can be used to minimise sweating and neutralise odours.

Can a deodorant be used during the day?
Yes, a deodorant can be used during the day. However, as Dry-Me also neutralises body odours, it is not necessary to apply a deodorant.

What must be done in cases where the skin becomes irritated following the application of Dry-Me?
Dry-Me has been formulated to avoid skin irritation. There should be no lasting irritation. However, if irritation should occur, an anti-inflammatory ointment should be applied after consulting a pharmacist and the gel should not be used for a few days.

For how long can Dry-Me be used?
Dry-Me can be used as long as needed.

How should Dry-Me be stored?
Dry-Me can be stored at room temperature. However, should the temperature exceed 30º, we would recommend that the bottle be kept in a refrigerator, out of the reach of children.
